The Shanbei has a rich and unique cultural heritage, characterized by the use of techniques and features from local theatrical genres such as Xintiangu, yangge, Qin opera, and errentai in instrumental music, as well as the distinctive accent of the language. Born in Shaanxi and influenced by its cultural heritage, Cheng Dazhao used materials from local theatrical genres such as Xintiangu, yangge, errentai, and Qin opera to create his works, characterized by the use of consonant harmonies built on fourth and fifth degree intervals. These materials are based on folk songs, giving his compositions a simple and profound flavor. The author will analyze and interpret the music through exploring and extending the movement titles based on these materials.
