This study aims to construct the indicators of safety literacy of outdoor playgrounds for preschool educators. Based on the relevant regulations, literature reviews and semi-structured interviews with three senior principals, the preliminary structure for the indicators was sketched out. This study used the traditional Delphi method, and the valid content of the questionnaire was reviewed and revised by Delphi experts who were three scholars. Afterwards, the survey a panel of 13 experts who were from the relevant fields, the industry, government and academy were invited. After these experts responded to three rounds of questionnaires and had a true consensus of what the experts thought, the indicators of safety literacy of outdoor playgrounds for preschool educators were constructed.
There are five conclusions for the study as follows:
1. The indicators for safety literacy of outdoor playgrounds for preschool educators include three levels, nine aspects and 39 items.
2. The three levels of the indicators for safety literacy of outdoor playgrounds for preschool educators are safety knowledge, safety attitude and safety acts.
3. Safety knowledge includes safety knowledge of games, safety knowledge of play facilities and safety knowledge for taking care of the kids, these three aspects and the other 13 items.
4. Safety attitude includes safety attitude of games, safety attitude of play facilities and safety attitude for the environments, these three aspects and the other 14 items.
5. Safety acts include preventing from the risk of the games, maintaining the safety of play facilities and dealing with the accidents, these three aspects and the other 12 items.
Finally according to the research results, the specific recommendations are made iv and provided for the safety literacy of outdoor playgrounds for the preschool educators as the practical operation and further references.
