Chang Yi-Hsiung (1914~2016) was born in Chiayi, Taiwan. He was the first Taiwanese artist to receive an artist's fellowship in France. In 2005, he was awarded the fourth class Order of the King Star, the highest cultural honor, by former President Chen Shui-bian.
Chang Yi-hsiung’s painting style has always changed with his living environment. Chang Yi-hsiung's artistic inspiration came from Chen Cheng-po, a first-generation Taiwanese painter, whose painting style was different from that of the first generation, as most of his paintings were no longer in the traditional realist style, but even more in the post-impressionist direction.
