This research explores the relationship between fathers’ parenting styles and their children's temperaments. The research objectives include:
1、Understanding the current status of parenting styles of fathers with
preschoolers,2、Understanding the current situation of the preschoolers’ temperaments,3、Understanding how different personal background variables of young children affect the parenting styles of their fathers,4、 Understanding how different personal background variables of young children affect their temperaments,5、Understanding how different personal background variables of fathers affect the parenting,6、Understanding how different personal background variables of fathers affect the temperaments of their children. 7、Understanding the correlation between the fathers’ parenting styles and their children's temperaments,8、 This research provides results for academic and practical reference
In this study, a quantitative design was adopted. The data were
collected based on the literature development research framework as
well as both the parenting styles questionnaires and child
temperament questionnaires.
The targets of this research are the father of three- to six-year-old children in private kindergartens of various districts in New Taipei City
A total of 470 questionnaires were sent, 420 were recovered, and 350 were valid according to the research parameters. Measurement tools include: a basic information questionnaire, father parenting scale, and child temperament scale.Statistical analysis used: SPSS20.0, univariate analysis, Sheffe test, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient
This study found:1.A significant difference in fathers’ parenting styles depending on the birth order of their children,2.A significant difference in children’s temperaments depending on their genders,3.A significant difference in the parenting styles of fathers with different levels of education, types of occupation, and average monthly incomes,4.A significant difference in the children’s temperaments depending on their fathers’ ages and occupations,5.The distractibility, adaptability, quality of mood, intensive reactions and the activity level of the children have a ignificant correlation with their fathers’ parenting styles.
Finally, this article makes recommendations for the fathers of preschoolers based on the research findings and results
