Abstract: The simulation of the melt flow is necessary to develop high quality products. Various researches are carried out about the numerical analysis of the melt flow in the mold since 1970's and there are the researches such as Finite Difference Technique of one dimension flow by Kamal and Kenig, proposals of FAN method by Broyer and FEM analysis of thermoplastics by Wang. If the flow behavior of the melt is grasped by these methods the orientation distribution of fiber reinforcements in the weld line region is understood and the forecast of the strength becomes possible. However, the mentioned above methods take a long analysis time even if a largescale computer is used. Therefore, a more useful method of numerical analysis and the model of the flow for such an analysis are very essential.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the flow behavior of the resin in injection molding and the generating processes of weld line for FRTP and polymers by simulating the flow behavior in the mold with the Boundary Element Method.
