The purpose of this study is to compare different modes of exercise training on body composition, muscular strength, anabolic hormones, pro-inflammatory and anti -inflammatory conditions. The subjects of this research will be 48 adults with sarcopenic obesity aged older than 55. All subjects will be tested for indicators of skeletal muscle mass index (total skeletal muscle mass (kg) / body weight (kg) x 100%), body fat percentage, visceral fat area, muscular strength (grip strength, back strength, quadriceps and biceps femoris strength), anabolic hormones (testosterone, GH, IGF-1), pro-inflammatory (C-reactive protein, IL-6, TNF-a), and anti -inflammatory (IL-4, IL-10). The 48 subjects will be randomly assigned to the high intensity resistance training (HIRT), aerobic training (AT), combination training (CT) and control (CON) groups during 8 weeks exercise training period for 60 minutes twice weekly. During exercise training period, the subjects will be tested for body composition , muscular strength, hormones, inflammation and anti -inflammatory in the 5th week, and 1 week as well as 4 weeks after training. All data will be analyzed using mixed-design two-way ANOVA. The a is set at .05. This research is expected to help the researcher understand the different modes of exercise training on body composition, muscular strength, hormones and immune response for patients with sarcopenic obesity, as well as the retention four weeks after training. The result may be available as optional reference on modes of exercise training for middle aged and elderly adults with sarcopenic obesity in the future. |
