Economic recession together with the maturity of information services, have made firms unwilling to pay more for traditional IT service offering. It then challenges the profitability and market shares of system integrators. As a result, how to help system integrators transform, generate new values and ensure business sustainability through leveraging new technical and application trends, has then been an important issue.
To help react to this issue, this thesis takes cloud computing / services as its target, analyzing whether system integrators can transform into cloud-based service providers. To ensure research reliability and validity, case-based research and corresponding triangulation techniques are adopted; meanwhile, in terms of feasibility analysis, three aspects (i.e., financial, technical, and operational feasibility) are investigated based on the data gathered.
Our results show that system integrators are able to develop and provide customized services, to expand their service targets, and to achieve financial break-even, as long as internal and external resources can be efficiently utilized by system integrators. As well, it is cautioned that corresponding adjustments are also critical for the above manner.
