This thesis examines internet information for mainland Chinese visiting Taiwan from both sides of demand and supply, analyses whether the two complement each other, and recommends the measures to strengthen Taiwan's tourism services and improve the correct and full Internet information.
Methods carried on in this study are questionnaire survey and document analysis. As on the demand side of tourist internet information, the author uses questionnaires survey mainland Chinese tourists at Taoyuan International Airport, on Saturdays and Sundays during November 2010, to understand the characteristics of mainland tourists and their preferences. As on the supply side of tourist internet information, the author applies literature analysis to collect internet information provided by the Tourism Bureau and travel agencies, and related papers to analyze, to understand tourist internet information.
This study finds that: As 60 years of estrangement between Taiwan and the mainland has prompted mainland Chinese to visit Taiwan in full of curiosity. It was said that man who did not visit Taiwan will be a lifetime regret. This is the most important motivation that mainland tourists to visit Taiwan. Tourist preferences of mainland tourists are the magnificent scenery of Taiwan, such as Alishan, Sun Moon Lake, Taroko Gorge in Hualien, Taiwan's food and fruit. The internet information provided by Government authorities and the tourist industries is serious shortage of tourist information and must be full information of the internet, as well as keyword search and links.
Conclusions of this thesis: the gap between Taiwan and the mainland for a long time is prone to misunderstanding with each other. Allowing mainland tourists to visit Taiwan is a smart policy. Providing adequate internet information to increase contact with both sides will enhance mutual understanding and eliminate misunderstanding and hostility. It is a total of creating win-win situation.
