The purpose of this study is to investigate the immediateand follow-up effects of Orff musical program toward promotingthe attention of mentally children with mild And moderate degree in elementary school.
Adopting a single-subject“One-group the time series designs "A-B-A-A'that belongs to“One-group pretest-posttest-procrastinate test ".
Five students from a certain elementary school with specialeducation class of Taipei City are selected as research subjects.
The Orff Musical program was conducted 60 minutes pretime,two times pre week for six weeks with four times pretest,and four times posttest followed by four times procrastinate test one month later.
The outcome of attention tests including selective attention,divided attention and sustained attention.
After pretest,posttest and procrastinate were quantified.All processes were video recording and using feeback questionnaire.
Major consequences of this study are as follows:
1.The effects of Orff musical program on improving selective attention of experimental group students were showed immediate significant exhibition and retention effect,but the directed effect was better than the lasting effect.
2.The effects of Orff musical program on improving divided attention of experimental group students were showed immediate significant exhibition and retention effect,but the directed effect was better than the lasting effect.
3.The effects of Orff musical program on improving sustained attention of experimental group students were showed immediate significant exhibition and retention effect,but the directed effect was better than the lasting effect.
Based on the finding of this study,several suggestions are provided for parents,school guidance and further research.
