Simultaneous fixing and softening of direct dyeing cotton fabrics with fixative and silicon softener were investigated by using the exhaust process﹒Some factors effecting the process, such as fixatives, softener, direct dyes and exhaust temperature were discussed. The dyed and finished fabrics were evaluated with respect to color depth, fixation, fastness properties and hand feeling. Moreover, a comparison between one bath process and two bath process was made.
