    Abstract: 近年來台灣政府決定英語教學延伸到小學,閱讀是培養讀寫的主要部份,然而,有效的閱讀教學在於所投入精力及特殊的教學法,如果教法不當,學生的閱讀就無法達到效果,只停留在認字,而不能了解課文。閱讀教學有三個主要的方洗:字母、望文生義、和話音等三種。許多老師三者並用。閱讀的問題是造成課業差的普遍現象。也應注意到閱讀的問題爲可避免的。本論文的目的是將閱讀教學的論點作個提綱挈領的說明,並且提供給閱讀教學的老師一些有關教導初學者及小學生在閱讀方面的教學方法,希望能培養學童對閱讀和文學的熱愛。

    Recently the government in Taiwan decided to extend English teaching to Elementary school. Reading is an essential part of literacy. However, it takes effort and particular didactical methods to teach reading effectively, If reading is inefficiently taught, then children become inefficient readers, struggling with word recognition and unable to understand the text. There are three distinct approaches to teaching reading: The Alphabet Approach; The Sight Word Approach and The Phonics Approach. Many teachers use a combination of these three approaches. Reading problems are among the most common causes of academic failure. The purpose of this paper is to outline some of the latest thinking on the teaching of reading and to present some methods for teaching reading to beginner readers and elementary school teachers. It is to be hoped that children will develop a life-long love of reading and literature
