身為全球村的公民，以及受大學教育的知識份子，務必要知曉族群意識的源起與作用，面對當代族群衝突事件越演越烈，我們更應該正確地瞭解我族中心主義及文化相對論的內涵。本文從當代的種族、宗教、文化等面向，依據傳媒報導事件，舉例詳加剖析，並從歷史縱軸洞察今日習俗差異與紛亂四起源頭。作者訴求支除對異文化的刻板印象，真心觀察欣賞他者多元文化之美。如此公民人文素養，將促使臺灣的社會邁向和諧、共生的新紀元。
