The primary objective of this study is to delve into the process of which non-art major doujin artists in Taiwan become immersed in fandoms for creative expression and growth, as well as the influence of their creative endeavors and career on their overall career development. Four female research participants were selected through snowball sampling, and data was collected by semi-structured interviews. Subsequently, narrative research was employed for data analysis. The study findings suggest that the doujin development trajectories of four participants up to this point have generally followed the career development stages proposed by Super (Herr & Cramer, 1999; Jin, 2018). All participants have harbored a fascination with a specific pop culture since childhood, first encountering doujin during their teenage years. While exploring doujin culture, they initiated the public dissemination of their work and engaged in experimentation and practice. Following their university, graduate school, or professional experiences, they gained more leisure time and resources, enabling them to dedicate significant effort to doujin activities. Currently, all participants maintain stable studies or employment to support their doujin interests. Engaging in doujin activities through creative expression has had two primary impacts on their career development. First, it enhances the skills or competitiveness in one's primary profession. Second, it helps individuals cope with difficulties in their professional careers through self-adjustment in doujin activities. The influence of professional career development on doujin creation processes also has had two primary impacts. One is the reduction of creative activities due to a busy lifestyle, and the other is the strengthening of planning or execution abilities in doujin activities. After compiling the stories of four research participants, we discuss the meanings of doujin creation in their careers from three perspectives: the meaning of not choosing creation as their primary career, the meaning of creation for slash doujin artists, and the reconstruction of the "meaning of slash". In conclusion, based on the research findings, this study proposes three recommendations for caregivers such as parents and teachers, career counselors, and future researchers in related fields.
