Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) is a prominent French composer and conductor, his works are very diverse, particularly notable for the many concertos he composed for instruments.His "Ballade for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra" remains a popular piece of recital repertoire.
This thesis focuses on the analysis and performance interpretation of Henri Tomasi's Ballade for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra. It is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 outlines the research scope, methods, and motivation; Chapter 2 delves into Tomasi’s life and compositional background; Chapter 3 analyzes the structure of the piece; Chapter 4 offers performance suggestions based on the author's experience; and Chapter 5 summarizes the findings.
This research aims to provide insights for saxophonists studying this piece, given the lack of related resources in Taiwan.
