The main focus of the expression in ink painting lies in the mood rather than the form. This paper attempts to combine traditional techniques with those of the new generation to present a fresh outlook, particularly discussing the style of the author's landscape and cultural creations under the theme of "entering the past and bring out the new", showcasing the novel appearance of "new literati painting."
The concept of "entering the past and bring out the new" involves integrating traditional Chinese painting theories and techniques with modern elements to create works that possess both the traditional Chinese flavor and modernity. This approach allows for the expression of personal style and unique perspectives, fully unleashing the author's personality and creativity.
The research methodology of this paper primarily combines literature review and theoretical research. The theoretical foundation of ancient ink landscape painting cannot be separated from the influence of Chinese philosophical thought. Throughout the history of painting, ink painting has seen numerous masterpieces, leading to the development of rich and diverse theories of ink landscape creation. Furthermore, contemporary creations are influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures, resulting in different artistic characteristics and styles.
The author's painting style starts with tradition but incorporates new-generation techniques, comprehensively expressing personal religious beliefs, life philosophies, moral character, academic experiences, personality traits, thought directions, aesthetic connotations, etc. Through various "fied sketching" and "imaginative creation", the author creates works with passionate and rich personal vocabularies, striving for the realm of "harmony between man and nature, leaving no trace."
Thesis attempts to make the social and economic conditions and cultural atmosphere of Hong Kong, shaped by recent social movements and the COVID-19 pandemic, the central theme of my work. By observing and analyzing inner insights, the paintings reflect the context and sentiments of the times, expressing the author's understanding of contemporary society and emotional experiences of today’s generation!
