At a time when "Malayan affair" has become a must-have subject for almost every Malaysia-Chinese writer, Li-Zishu realized that her life and subject matter were becoming rigid, she resigned from her job and went abroad to Beijing and even to London, and she successively created works that with exotic style that relative to her previous style. This papers is based on four different types of works published by Zishu since she left Malaysia in 2007, such as the short stories "Wild Bodhisattva" and "Unfinished - To Be Continued", the microfiction collection "Simplified", and the prose collection "Pause", and analyzes the text of those works that have elements of exotic themes, in order to understand the impact of overseas experience on Zishu's creativity.

This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 explores the research motivation and objectives, research methods, and literature review. Chapter 2 discusses the life of Li Zi-Shu. Chapter 3 extends from the reasons for Li Zi-Shu's escape to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by Malaysian Chinese writers. Chapter Four focuses on the writings of Li Zi-Shu during her stay in Beijing, with a focus on the indigenous characteristics of her essays, micro fiction, and short stories. Chapter Five, on the other hand, examines Li Zi-Shu's works during her residency in London, with a focus on the relatively European exotic style of her essays and short stories. The conclusion of Chapter 6 summarizes and synthesizes the research findings from the previous chapters.
