Purpose: This study examined the interactive effects of life stress and dispositional mindfulness on Division-1 student-athlete's sports injuries. Methods: Participants were 201 college A-level athletes (males = 122; females = 79) with injury experience. Research measurement tools include demographic information, sports injuries, the College Student-Athletes Life Scale (CSALSS), and the Chinese Version of the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (CMAAS). The collected data were sorted, coded, processed, and statistically analyzed, including using independent sample t-test and variance analysis to compare the differences in life stress, dispositional mindfulness, and sports injuries among athletes with different background variables using Pearson performance correlation to analyze the correlation between each research variable; using multiple hierarchical regression analysis to test the moderating effect of the interaction between athletes' life stress and dispositional mindfulness on sports injuries. Results: There is a significant positive correlation between college student-athletes’ life stress and sports injuries, while dispositional mindfulness has a significant negative correlation with life stress and sports injuries. Multiple hierarchical regression analysis showed that life stress significantly correlates to sports injuries - the higher the life stress, the higher the sports injuries. Further, it was found that dispositional mindfulness moderated the life stress-sports injury relationship- i.e., as life increases, those with high dispositional mindfulness showed lower levels of sports injury than those with low dispositional mindfulness. In other words, athletes with low dispositional mindfulness perceived more significant life stress and a higher rate of sports injury than those with high dispositional mindfulness. Conclusion: Sports injuries are prevalent in college student-athletes, and life stress will aggravate this relationship. Examining the influences of personality traits on life stress and sports injury relationships is recommended. Adopting mindfulness training is also recommended to reduce athletes' stress and promote psychological well-being.
