In the first year of Emperor Xian of Han (220), the Eastern Han Dynasty fell, and China, which maintained a unified situation, entered a pluralistic and chaotic era. Until the unification of Emperor Wen of Sui, for about 370 years, there were many monarchs occupied a portion of land of China, which is the era of "Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties". Although there was a short-term unification of the Western Jin Dynasty, it was immediately broken by the disaster of Yongjia. The Jin family moved to the south, and the north became a place where various ethnic groups competed (Five Barbarians and Sixteen Kingdoms).
The Five Barbarians and Sixteen Kingdoms were an era of division, with warring states and endless chaos, but from another perspective, it was an important period of collision, friction, exchange and integration of diverse ethnic groups and cultures from all over the world. Among them, Buddhism came from the Western Regions, and the number of believers increased day by day. Many monarchs enshrined the Three Jewels, recruited famous monks, and set up official Buddhist scripture translation centers to translate scriptures that China did not yet have. During this period, Buddhism became an important belief in many northern countries because of its special teachings and ideas.
Liangzhou, where Northern Liang is located, is the main route from the Western Regions to the "Zhongyuan". Juqu Mengxun and his son both worshiped Buddhism and supported the Dharma. Buddhism. Therefore, this article attempts to explain the influence of the Juqu regime and the eminent monk Tan Wuzhen on the translation of Buddhist scriptures and the spread of Buddhism at that time and on later generations.
