In response to the global spread of COVID-19, the world came to a halt and the global industry structure was transformed. This led to the digital transformation of traditional industries, with a proliferation of online activities and emerging demands, as well as the rise of numerous startups. Simultaneously, this accelerated the development of industry accelerators. To achieve industry specialization and individual differentiation, specialized accelerators were launched in various fields. At the same time, the increased digitalization and digital transformation resulted in a high demand for cybersecurity and the emergence of cybersecurity startups.

However, despite the multitude of specialized accelerators, there is currently no dedicated accelerator for the cybersecurity industry. This research adopts a case study approach, focusing on startups in both the cybersecurity and non-cybersecurity sectors that joined a domestic industry accelerator at the same time. Through interviews conducted at the end of the mentoring period provided by existing industry accelerators and follow-up interviews two years later, the study aims to determine whether there is a viable basis for supporting the development of cybersecurity startups. Additionally, the interviews seek to explore whether there is a need to establish a dedicated cybersecurity accelerator for startup development, and if so, what kind of content it should provide.
