Cope 與 O.C.
Since the Bone Wars was started in the late 19th century, E.D. Cope and O.C. Marsh have named hundreds of dinosaur species. Triceratops is one of the most renowned species among them named dinosaurs, whose fossils the majority of which were unearthed in the United States. However, most Triceratops specimens are still poorly preserved and partially missing. This study describes a new Triceratops skull specimen (MFI201801), which was excavated from the Hell Creek Formation of Montana, USA, and collected in Mr. Fossil Institute (MFI). Then the exploratory investigate reveals the taxonomic status of this skull. According to the skull sutures lines of the skull, supraorbital horn length and the morphology of nasal-rostrum region concluded reviewed by Forster (1996), this skull presents both characteristics of T. horridus and T. prorsus, indicating that it may be a new Triceratops species, though the hypothesis requires. In addition, some marks that probably were caused by impacts, teeth or claws, are also dependent on histopathological research for revealing their life history and interaction with environment.
