This report documented and analyzed the author’s performance on Changing Seasons from the early-stage preparation, rehearsals, to the final performance.
The objectives and motivations of conducting the research were discussed in Chapter 1, along with the respective research method. Chapter 2 is an introduction to the background story and timeline in which the story was set, and how the writer-director got inspired to produce this piece. The discussion of how the morale of the story aligns with the core value of the troupe was carried out in this chapter as well. The third chapter examines the process of creating each character from top to bottom, including the relationship between different characters and that between the characters and their actors. The characters’ background stories and their developments after each obstacle encountered were also explored in depth in this chapter. The focus was then moved onto the experience of the actors. From the actors’ first-ever line-reading, multiple on-stage rehearsals, to the two final performances, every detail was recorded in Chapter 4, including the issues met and the corresponding resolutions. Finally, the author reviewed the feedback obtained from the audiences, the head of the troupe, staff members, and the supervising professor after the performance, and realized that this show is not the end of the author’s journey, but the necessary fuel and nutrient to grow and become a successful actor.
