保羅・克雷斯頓(Paul Creston, 1906-1985)是美國20世紀重要的作曲家之一。1939年為美國薩克斯風管演奏家賽西爾・利森(Cecil Leeson, 1902-1989)而作的《中音薩克斯風與鋼琴奏鳴曲,作品19》, 被認為「是薩克斯風與鋼琴的最成熟作品之一」,在古典薩克斯風演奏曲目中佔有重要地位。本研究將分析此曲的結構與音樂風格,並結合分析結果以及筆者的自身練習與演奏經驗給予詮釋上的建議。
本文分為五個章節:第一章為緒論,確定本文研究範圍與方向;第二章則是透過資料整合闡述克萊斯頓的生平與創作背景;第三章針對樂曲的曲式和旋律進行分析;第四章是利用第三章的分析結果,結合筆者自身練習與演奏,給予演奏詮釋的建議;第五章為結論,總結研究心得及結果,給予演奏者作為參考。
Paul Creston (1906-1985) is one of the most important composers in the United States in the 20th century. Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano, Op. 19, composed for American saxophonist Cecil Leeson (1902-1989) in 1939, is considered "one of the most mature works for saxophone and piano", and occupies an important position in the classical saxophone repertoire. This research will analyze the structure and musical style of the piece, and combine the analytical results and the author's own practicing and performing experiences to give interpretation suggestions.
This article is divided into five chapters: the first chapter is the introduction, which determines the scope and direction of this research; the second chapter explains Creston’s life and compositional background through the integration of data; the third chapter focuses on analyzing the musical materials of the forms, and the melodies . the fourth chapter to combine the results of the third chapter with author’s own practicing and performing experiences, and to give suggestions for performance interpretation; the fifth chapter is the conclusion, summarizing the research experience and results for the performers as a reference.
