To investigate the effectiveness of Flossband in restoring muscle
strength and proprioception after inducing muscle fatigue. Methods: Fourteen healthy college students were selected as research subjects to induce muscle fatigue by maximal autonomous repetitive centrimetry. Quadriceps muscle strength test and knee joint proprioception test were performed with 60 ° / SEC isokinetometer before, after and after fatigue induction. The three intervention methods of recovery treatment were as follows: (1) Flossband winding followed by passive stretching was applied twice for 2 minutes and 30 seconds at a time, and the total time of winding and applying was 5 minutes; (2) Flossband winding and freehand massage were applied twice for 2 minutes and 30 seconds each time, and the total time of twisting and applying was 5 minutes; (3) After winding with Flossband, rest for 5 minutes and apply it twice for 2 minutes and 30 seconds each time. The total time of winding and applying it is 5 minutes. A homogeneity test was conducted for the performance of three different recovery methods in pre - and post-fatigue tests by repeated measurement ANOVA to ensure whether the three groups were homogenous before and after fatigue. The comparative difference between each recovery method before and after fatigue was tested by
repeated measurement ANOVA. When significant levels were reached, Bonferroni method was used for post-mortem analysis to compare the recovery progress rate. All statistical significant levels were set as α=.05. The recovery progress rate was obtained by dividing the value after fatigue subtraction by the value after recovery. Results: (1) In terms of strength performance, the recovery effect of Flossband massage group and Flossband control group was significantly different; The Flossband stretching group recovered significantly at maximum strength, but not at average strength. Maximum strength and average strength of Flossband massage group (176.1 ± 13.4 n-m; 116.4 ± 9 n-m), about 10% and 14%, respectively. Flossband control group (164.4 ± 12.7n-m; 101.7 ± 6.6n-m), the recovery improvement rate was about 8% and 6%, respectively, in Flossband stretching group (161.1 ± 11.7n-m; 102.4 ± 6.3N-m), and the recovery improvement rate was about 6% and 7%, respectively. (2) On the proprioceptive release surface, the homogeneity test of repetition quantity before and after fatigue was carried out in the three groups to compare whether there was a significant difference between the groups, and the results showed that there was no significant difference between the groups (P =.159); It was found that only the Flossband massage group (2.3 ± 1.9 degrees) had a significant difference after each repeated maximum autonomic concentric movement. There was no significant difference in proprioception between the Flossband stretching group (2.8 ± 1.4 degree) and the Flossband control group (3.0 ± 0.5 degree). Conclusion: After exercise fatigue, Flossband plus massage and Flossband winding rest can effectively recover the maximum strength and average strength, among which Flossband plus massage has better recovery effect. In terms of proprioception, only the Flossband group achieved significant difference in recovery effect. |
