Investigating the reasons for the protection of the elderly, some of the cases originated from the client’s abandonment or abuse of his own children in the past. The failure of restoration, which eventually led to the exchange of the roles of the offender/victim and re-enter the judicial system. In view of this, this study explores the process of transforming from a child protection counterpart to an elderly protection client. The research field was selected in a county of central part of Taiwan. Depth interviews was conducted with 2 family cases mwho have been converted from children’s offender to elderly protection victims.The research use narrative methods as the research orientation, allowing the interviewees to tell through their life journeys, including the victim’s trauma experience, the process of family disorganization, the family treatment measures, the follow-up on the victim and offender’s relationship , and the exchange of offender/victim role.The results are as follow:
1. Family treatment is limited, the victim has not received sufficient compensation from the offender, and cutting off the relationship with the counterparty is the last way of self-relief.
2. The traumatic experience has not been repaired after cutting off the relationship.
3. The victim feels non-obligated to support the offender , however, the law guarantees the offender’s right and cause second jeopardy for a victim.
At last, according to the research result and the author’s reflection, the suggestions are offered to social and legal workers and researchers.
