The rise of China has attracted the attention of the world. What China can contribute to the world is actually far beyond the negative expectation in Western mainstream public opinion. The experience of China's governance provides a positive model to the world. According to Chinese principle of governance, which is derived from the philosophy of "All-under-the-Heaven", the estrangement among different political groups such as states and nations can be eliminated with the attitude of inclusiveness. This does help to build up a political culture based on harmony and cooperation, and lead to a reasonable, healthy and stable political environment.
This thesis explores the contents and values of the Chinese traditional "All-under-the-Heaven Order" and its meaning to the contemporary world. The philosophy of "the world belongs to all" elaborates that the world is shared by all people. Therefore the purpose of global governance should be aimed at "the people". The thought of "people first" puts great emphasis on the common well-being of humanity. The world should be governed in the political system which operates as a "great unity" in the "Kingly Way."
Nowadays, the world's order is essentially oriented towards separate interests. It is easily prone to creating conflicts and clashes due to uneven distribution of resources. As a result, the domestic society is filled with disorder and tension. The international world is ruled by the Law of the Jungle. In conclusion, philosophies of "the world belongs to all", "people first" and "great unity" embody the values of the Chinese "All-under-the-Heaven Order" and provide the ideological basis to achieve the idea of a "Human Community of Common Destiny". It further contributes to the realization of a "World of Great Harmony" in the future.
