Suicide risk assessment interview is the most important part of the suicide care service and one of the core competencies of the suicide prevention and care vistors. The purpose of this study was to develop assessment interview guideline for suicide risk through literature analysis method and focus group interview.
In the first stage, literature analysis was used to establish the protocol of assessment interview guideline for suicide risk. In the second stage, a focus group of practical workers approach was adopted, in which five experienced suicide prevention and care vistors were invited to conduct interviews to understand their views on the practice and propose revisions to the protocol. In the third stage, an expert focus group approach was adopted to invite four experts in the field of suicide to conduct interviews, review the guidelines based on expert views and propose amendments.
The results are to develop assessment interview guideline for suicide risk, which can be divided into five parts: introduction, principles of assessment interview for suicide risk, stages and steps of assessment interview for suicide risk, standards of formulating risk indicators and illustrative sentences of interview . The results of this study can provide practical workers with a theoretical and practical assessment guide to improve the quality and effectiveness of suicide risk assessment interviews.
