女人在相夫教子之世俗價值觀中被認定社會角色,她的任務往往被賦予家務、生育、家庭等,即使生命中有多大的才華、心願、理想等,都會被既有的社會認知取代,個體的獨特性與不可替代性,同時也會漸漸向現實社會的步調妥協,這些都將是作為女人的角色扮演。筆者自省以女性藝術愛好者的身份投入這塵世,更加確認這是不可迴避的挑戰。
畫家的天職是創作,而作品主旨在彰顯生命歷程的價值;作品顯現在生命歷程中,或作為天賦,又或作為理想,最終仍將自我語意與作品對話,在創作中不斷呈現重覆自我個性、風格。而近乎真實化的作品也是畫家在時空條件下最能印證生命成長歷程的產物,筆者深信『生命語意的境相本身是退後卻又是向前』,最能表現生命之真實義。
本文透過文獻探討、歷史回溯、作品分析研究,發現「生命物語」系列的女性畫家在面對傳統、創造個人命運上,都沒有被現實社會打敗,反而更能活出自身生命的精彩,這令筆者十分讚嘆、佩服,所以筆者最終希望彙集退後和向前的歷程所展現的境相,更深刻地認識藝術與對自身生命的體悟,在繪畫藝術創作中找出與生命更吻合的藝術性及表現內容。
As a woman surviving in a world dominated by men and patriotic traditions. Her dreams and aspirations are always delayed and shelved for more “important” roles. May it be the role of a“perfect”mother, wife or daughter; these are the responsibilities she has. A woman’s value and worth is based on how well she performs each role and whether she meets the societal expectations. Her uniqueness and individuality is dissipated to conform to cultural acceptance. As a woman, and an artist she is trapped in a battle between realizing her aspirations and fulfilling her societal roles.
Art is a reflection of life and reality. Through the discussion of “Life Story” series, we are able to explore the inner struggle and the breakthrough of the artist/writer. The expression of life through art is demonstrated via her work. She broke free from the chains of society and live through her artwork. Ultimately, the “Life Story” series is the realization of the connection between self and art. In the journey of art and creation one is able to explore the balance between the expression of life and art.
