In Judo Katame-waza, most of the movements are derived and improved from Jujutsu techniques, where Jujutsu Kansetsu-waza can be used to attack joints of the ankle and foot. To develop Judo as a modern sport, the more lethal techniques of Jujutsu were abandoned when the rules were drawn up, only the joints of the elbow can be used to perform the techniques! The martial arts movement founded by Mr Jigoro Kano in 1882 is based on the principles of seiryoku zen'yo and jita kyoei. After the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, Judo was classified as an official Olympic sport at the initiative of Mr Jigoro Kano. There are two main types of Judo, Tachi-waza and Ne-waza, used to score points. It is a combat sport that requires physical confrontation and technical finesse, not only in terms of physical conditioning and technical skill but also in terms of mental strength. In my time as an athlete, most of the points were scored with Kansetsu-waza, apart from the usual Tachi-waza. For this reason, I have written this technical report on “Judo - application of Juji-Gatame” based on my practical experience and sports science theory. Through this technical report, I hope to provide a reference for Judo enthusiasts.
