The purpose of this paper is to explore the belief in the God of the City God under the official sacrificial policy of the Southern Kingdoms during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Officials pay attention to the level of the God of the City God, rising from the local government to the ruler of the kingdom. Qian Liu, the king of Wuyue, was one of the monarchs who highly respected the city god in this period. His interpretation and shaping of the city god deeply influenced the understanding of the city god in later generations. The God of the City God was worshipped and advocated by the civil society and local officials in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, and became a local god with strong capital and no doubt of legitimacy. In addition to distinguishing himself as "right" and affirming the legitimacy of his rule by virtue of the symbolic authority accumulated by the Chongcheng God for a long time, Qian Liu also wooed local forces by requesting a seal for the god, and elevated his rule from military occupation to spiritual level. Under the respect of Qian Liu and other southern kingdoms, the city god was conferred by the state and became a state-recognized god of worship. The symbol of the god was clearly implanted with the meaning of orthodoxy, so that it could enter the state at the beginning of the Song Dynasty. Code to protect the security of the capital and the imperial city.
