This study aimed to investigate the distribution of injured locations, types, and causes of sports injuries, as well as the post-injury treatment/therapy in female table tennis athletes in Taiwan. The study subjects are the female players who participated in National Table Tennis Championships 2019. Participants were asked to answer the questions regarding their latest sports injuries via a self-designed questionnaire, Sports Injury Questionnaire for Taiwanese Female Table Tennis Players. 276 questionnaires were issued and 267 valid ones were collected, resulting in the effective rate of 96.7%. The data collected through the method of surveying was then processed and analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test utilizing SPSS 18.0. In Taiwanese female table tennis athletes, shoulder was the most commonly injured location (29.2%) and muscle strain was the most common injury type (45.9%). Sports injury was most likely to happen during training (85.2%) and the most common cause of injury was over-training (45.9%). Ice pack or hot pack was the most common acute treatment after injury (51.2%) and massage was the most common post-injury therapy (27.7%). According to our analysis, neither did the years of training nor the weekly training days seem to affect the timing of getting injury, locations of injury, or types of injury. However, the daily training hours might influence the timing of getting injury, but not locations or types. The post-hoc analysis showed that athletes who trained 4-5 hours per day would have higher injury rate than those who trained for only 2-3 hours per day (p=0.046). In conclusion, female table tennis athletes should be aware of the training hours per day and properly arrange the training time in order to prevent possible injuries.
