The author's search for the "Lay of Igor's Host" should be conducted from the end of the 12th to the end of the 18th century. The role of the later possible writers is determined. The coincidences of collocations and words with V. P. Petrov's odes are listed. The fragments added, possibly by N. M. Karamzin, are singled out. Petrov began to write an epic poem, Karamzin revised it into a prose lyric-epic work.
