Currently, the Weather Wing, Air Force has installed 4 wind lidar profilers at Song-Shan, CCK, Ping-Dong, and Hua-Lian airports. In the meantime, these facilities are observing vertical wind profile operationally and supports the air force flight training and disaster mitigation. In practice, the low level wind shear is potential danger to the aircraft during take-off and landing. Base on the wind lidar measurement, it is important to quantify the vertical wind shear intensity to support the forecaster for issuing wind shear waring. The Weather Wing wind lidar have more than one year of observation data. In this study, the observed wind data will be carefully analyzed. According the past studies and references, the strong wind shear environment will be identified and the shear intensity will be quantified into various dangerous levels, such as shear intensity index. This index may help forecaster to better handle the small scale weather and reduce the uncertainty when forecaster are issuing a waring.
