Big-sized Heavy Motorcycles (Directorate General of Highways, MOTC, Taiwan) can be seen everywhere in Taiwan. This study intends to find the relation-ships among flow experience. (Csikszentmihalyi 1996) Mihalyi defined the symp-toms and phenomena of flow state as having nine dimensions: (1) clear goals, (2) immediate feedback, (3) personal skills well suited to given challenges, (4) merging of action and awareness, (5) concentration on the task at hand, (6) a sense of potential control, (7) a loss of self-consciousness, (8) an altered sense of time, and (9) experience which becomes autotelic. These nine flow dimensions may be used to describe flow experience.
“Serious Leisure is a main route open to people with these goals. Its three types amateurism, hobbyist pursuits, and career volunteering are defined, described, and interrelated.” (Stebbins, 1982) They were with benefits of leisure for riders of heavy motorcycles that was mentioned in the past research from the scientific method.
The study sample was for people with a Big-sized Heavy Motorcycle driver's license, and who are age 25 years or older. Convenience sampling followed by snowball sampling were the methods used through email to a Big-sized Heavy Motorcycle group line and a Big-sized Heavy Motorcycle community. A total of 280 copies were recovered, 26 invalid questionnaires were removed, and a total of 254 valid questionnaires were used. We use descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis to study the causes between variables. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 21 statistical software, and the recovery rate was 90.7%.
The study found that riding 49 times a year or more of heavy motorcycles (both for travel with friends or by themselves, or for riding just to improve skill) accounted for 24.4%, those who don’t have the proportion of Big-sized Heavy Motorcycles was 21.7%, and the number of single riders without a spouse but who have had a child or children at home and waiting for them was 8.7% (this activity is very dangerous for Taiwan road style. After this research, it shows that having children doesn’t matter. ), 45-54 year-olds accounted for 36.6%, and women accounted for 4.3%. In flow experience, those who have two or more Big-sized Heavy Motorcycle are different for those who don’t have them (See Table 4-14). Serious Leisure and Benefits of Leisure are also different for those who have two or three Big-sized Heavy Motorcycles than for those who don’t have them (See Table 4-18 and Table 4-22).
Also, Flow Experience, Serious Leisure, and Benefits of Leisure are dif-ferent between the age ranges of 45-54 and 35-44, and have significant differences between the age ranges of 45-54 and those 55 and above (See Table 4-16, 4-20, and 4-24). However, the age ranges of 35-44 and those 55 and above are not different for Flow Experience, Serious Leisure, nor Benefits of Leisure.
Finally, based on the research results, the reference direction and future research proposals are proposed. The Directorate General of Highways, MOTC, Taiwan announced in 2019 that men aged 25-44 were the largest group (See Table 5-1) 60.958% (26.619%+34.339%). However, this study accounted for 36.6% of 45-54 year-olds and 31.5%(6.7%+24.8%) of 25-44 year-olds. Future interested par-ties can study for themselves in depth.
