The purpose of this study is to investigate the workplace exercise program for computer manufactory workers, and clarify the association between the indicators of physical fitness and burnout. Study method: a quasi-experimental design was used in this study, which a total of 63 participants voluntarily agreed to join the pre and post exercise intervention, and 40 participants was assigned into experimental group for a 12-weeks exercise course, and other 23 participants was assigned into control group for exclusion of exercise program. A combination of aerobic, core and muscle training was designed in the exercise program, and the burnout and physical fitness examination were conducted for study indicators. After the intervention, the descriptive analysis, chi-squared test, wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test, analysis of covariance, and pearson correlation coefficient were used to compare the difference between pre and post intervention. Study results: At the baseline of pre exercise intervention, the sex, marital status, and exercise habit variables were distributed differently between experimental and control groups. After the exercise intervention, ANCOVA analysis was used to compare the experimental and control groups, there were significant difference in personal burnout, front trunk flexibility, functional leg strength, and cardiopulmonary durability (p<0.05), by adjusting the variables of sex, marital status, and exercise habit. The study also showed that functional leg strength and cardiopulmonary durability were statistically significant related to personal burnout, and front trunk flexibility was statistically significant related to work-related burnout. Study conclusion: our study had found the improvement of some physical fitness indicators and personal and work-related burnout. The improvement of functional leg strength, cardiopulmonary durability and front trunk flexibility were statistically significant related decreases of personal and work-related burnout. Study suggestion: the results of our study have suggested that exercise program change the cause-effect relationship in physical fitness and burnout indicators. Our study may serve as a model of worksite health promotion in future reference.
