Trichogramma are endoparasitoids of lepidopteran eggs and commonly used in biological control of natural enemies. According to the morphological and molecular characterization, there are four species of Trichogramma in Taiwan. Two species of Trichogramma were known, Trichogramma chilonis and T. ostriniae, and the other two species were unknown. This study will test the biological species concept and confirm whether these two species of Trichogramma are new species. The results will help to understand the species diversity of Trichogramma and the future use of biological control. In the field investigation, the distribution of four species of Trichogramma was found to sympatric distribution. This research will study the interspecific competition. The trade-off of the release of single or multiple natural enemies, this study will be used as a reference for the prevention and control of natural enemies in the future. The relative species may achieve the purpose of competition replacement through hybridization. In this study, interspecific hybridization experiments were carried out on four species of Trichogramma to detect the gene introgression, and to explore the effects of reproductive interference on interspecific competition replacement and speciation events.
