By adopting a multi-theory, multi-behavior measures, and multi-time point data collection research design, the purpose of this study is to extend Lu and colleagues’ (Lu, Gill, Yang, Lee, Hsu, Chiu, & Kuan, 2018) athletic mental energy (AME) study and examine its relative prediction on athletes’ skills test and competition performance. This study will separate into two years. The first year will focus on the development of badminton skills test and the revisions of Athlete Mental Toughness Questionnaire/Test of Performance Strategy Scales. The second year will recruit 200 university badminton players (Males=100; Females =100) to examine the effects of mental toughness disposition, psychological skills and athletic mental energy on badminton skills test and competition. This study expects to expand athletic mental energy research to the world and hope this research enhances athletes’ performance and promote their well-being.
