Abstract:	臺灣紋面民族於日治時期，被採錄到許多巨人故事，泰雅族中多以Halus稱之，太魯閣族多稱Dnamay，賽德克族則是Lanamai，雖然名稱各異，但對巨人的外貌與行為以及最後除去巨人的敘述都相當接近，普遍存在的情節有：（一）巨人有巨大陽具。（二）河水暴漲時巨人以陽具作橋，女人容易通過，男人則不易。（三）巨人偷吃族人獵物。（四）巨人好色騷擾婦女。（五）族人以燒紅石頭計殺巨人。類似的巨人故事流傳至近代在情節上已不若日治時期文獻中那般完整，可能因族群長期受到異族統治與教育的影響，對於自身族群文化產生疏離與批判，因此，對於部分與性相關的情節逐漸減少。當1990年代原住民意識與族群教育逐漸提高後，巨人故事作為族群文化教材時，同樣也出現對於性相關情節的存廢現象。紋面民族巨人故事隨著時空的轉變，講述記錄與流傳意義也會逐漸轉變。 Atayal, Truku and Seediq has a lot of giant story. These stories has many motif, when Taiwan under Japanese rule: 1. giant have very big genitals; 2. giant use the penis as a bridge for people to walk through when river flooding; 3. giant steal people's prey; 4. giant rapes women to death; 5. people kill giant with fire stones. The giant story make change in the modern. The motif of the giant story is incomplete. The reason is these ethnic have long been influenced by foreign rule and education.
