摘要: The proposes of this study were to compare maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) measured by treadmill and by step test, and to investigate the relationship between VO2max and recovery heart rates following submaximal exercise. Subjects (N=14) were physically active collegemen with average age, heigh and weight of 21.5±3.3 yrs, 172.4±5.7cm and 66.5±5.8kg respectively. For attaining VO2max,eachsubject performed a maximal treadmill test and a maximal cycling test both with progressively increased workloads. For submaximal heart rates, a step test with a cadence of 30 times per minute and a height of 40cm was also applied. VO2 was measured by a Sensor Medic 2900 metabolic analyzer.
The results indicated that even if VO2max derived from treadmill test (50.68±3.27ml/kg/min) was significantly higher than that of step test (45.49±4.09ml/kg/min), they were significantly corrected (r=.056, p<.05).
The VO2max measured from treadmill was significantly corrected with recovery heart rate 1'-1'30”following 3 minute step test (r=-.80,p<.05).The results showed that recovery heart rate is a reliable predictor for VO2max by using a regression equation of:VO2max (ml/kg/min)=73.88-0.47 (heart rates 1'-1'30”following a 3minute step test; SEest=2.05)
