本論文以佛像藝術來探討造像藝術之內涵和創造之特性，從印度佛像藝術的典範成因，進而以當時的佛學思想與佛像造型，探討造像雕刻之藝術，分析人體形象與精神內涵的完美，並瞭解佛陀的造像是如何產生與發展。
在鑽研佛像之時，配合水墨繪畫創作與體驗，來做為學習的階段。除了借助佛的力量重新審視自己與培養創作耐心、修心之外，同時表現出自我心中所顯的法喜畫面。總而言之，佛教藝術是在於以純淨的心靈和謹慎的態度來從事，對此，印度的犍陀羅（Gandhara）與笈多王朝（Gupta Dynasty）時所展現出釋迦牟尼佛的人格形象之造像上的靜謐內斂，雙眼下垂，表情安詳、高貴，超越了世俗的情感。引發我的好奇，並影響筆者的宗教信仰，能讓我有撰寫本文的動機及創作的啟發。
筆者希望能藉此論文的撰寫，更進一部的探討印度犍陀羅與笈多王朝那莊重典雅且精雕細緻的佛教造像之創造表現和內涵，增添自我水墨繪畫獨創的想像力和精神展現。最重要的，就是能讓我的水墨創作能有突破性的發揮，進而散發出自我潛藏能量。
This thesis discusses the content and the characteristic of creation in the art of making joss by the art of Buddhan from the typical cause of Indian art of Buddha, to further discuss the art of engraving Buddha statue, analyze the wonderful body figure and spiritual connotations as well as understand how the art of engraving Buddha statue generate and develop by using Buddhist thought and the image of Buddha at that time.
When studying on the Buddha statue, coordinate with painting and experiencing ink painting to be a stage of learning. Besides of using the power of Buddha review oneself, and cultivate one’s patient in painting and one’s mind, he or her can express the picture of happiness of understanding the thought of Buddist. In a word, the art of Buddist is doing everything in a pure mind and a cautious attitude. Hereto, the personality of quiet and introverted, eyes drooping, serene and noble in expression shows in the statue of Shakya Muni Budhha, which is beyond the secular sentiment arouse my curiosity and influents the author’s religious belief. It also motivates and inspires me a lot to write this thesis.
The author hopes to further discuss the creative performance and connotation of the elegant and carefully carved Buddha statue in Gandhara and Gupta Dynasty, to increase original imagination and spiritual display. The most important is to make my ink painting breakthrough my potential powers then spread self-energy out.
