(The World Science Fiction Society)雨 果獎的圖像小說,也是圖像小說最重要的三部早期經典之一。
According to TIME Magazine, Watchmen is one of the best English-language novels published since 1923, and it is the only graphic novel to have received the Hugo Award, which is presented by the World Science Fiction Society. The Watchmen is one of the three early classic graphic novels. The author, Alan Moore, was an important writer of mainstream American comics in the eighties, and the illustrator, Dave Gibbons, who began working for DC comics in 1982, was responsible for drawing many key characters. This project explores the comic narrative of the graphic novel Watchmen, overall differences between the narrative and film adaptation, and general narrative effect. From a narrative point of view, we adopted Thierry Groensteen’s The System of Comics and Comics and Narration, which is coauthored by Ann Miller, as a theoretical foundation. Throughout the project, we explored the narrative from various aspects, such as the narrator’s form of expression, narrative materials (such as images, words, and sounds) for detailing different stages of the story, timing, and points of view. The purpose of the project was to explore the similarities and differences in Watchmen between the original comics and adapted film, as well as describing the benefits of cross-media narratives |
