Is there any impact of TV debate on election? This study proposes a strategy in exploring the issue. Focusing on each candidate separately and comparing the results of polls conducted before and after the first debate during Taipei Mayor campaign in 1998, this research gets some insights different from the "common sense" held by the press and political analysts. It seems that the analytical strategy used in this research is helpful in analyzing debate's influence in the future.
