This study is to investigate the wastewater treatment efficiency using 3D orthogonal woven fabrics as filtration media in Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) technology, in comparison with four high density 2D filter fabrics. The results demonstrated that the water flux of 3D woven fabric was maintained at 8.7×104 L/m^2 h, which is the highest among all fabrics with the trans-membrane pressure at 0.015MPa. The final turbidity of 3D woven fabric was even better than the best performed 2D fabric. This is attributed to the unique multi-layered porous structure of the 3D fabrics, which could facilitate better retention of pollutant particles and benefit for filtrate flow.
