The application of image fusion technology in nonwoven was discussed. Firstly, the nonwoven's images that in the same vision and different focal plane are captured. Secondly, these images are composited one image which is clear. Then, canny boundary detector was used to extract fibers' two edges under complex conditions to indicate fiber orientation. Finally, the fiber's orientation angle was calculated to find the fibers' orientation of the nonwoven sample. Through the manual testing of electron micrograph and mechanical measuring, the method of image fusion can measure the fibers' orientation of nonwoven rapidly and accurately.
