The theory of regionalized variables was applied to study of the spatial variation of design storm rainfall depth in northern Taiwan, and contours of various design storms were developed. The results indicate that spatial variation of short-duration and long-duration (duration ≧ 6hrs) storms are significantly different. The rainfall depth influence ranges of short-duration storms decrease as the return period increases. However; the influence ranges of long -duration storms do not change significantly and have an average of 72 km. Except for some short duration and long return period storms, 43 design storm depth contours were developed for hydrologic design in ungauged areas.
