Five bamboo species, Phyllostachys lithophila (PL), P.makinoi (PM), Chimonbambusa quadrangularis (CQ), Melocanna baccifera (MB), and Bambusa dolichoclada (BD) were selected as experimental material, and their industrial utilization values were evaluated by means of some culm form factors, including internode length, culm diameter, culm wall thickness and culm wall fraction. The results revealed that the quality of culm form, from the highest to lowest, was BD>PL and MB>PM and CQ. Culm form evaluation factors should be respectively considered depending on the type of utilization.
