In this study, chitosan used as wall material and volatile citronella oil used as core material, the possibility of mannfacturing microcapsule process was discussed. The results indicated that the optimal conditions of morphology were the concentration of wall material over 0.2%, and NaOH 0.1%. The encapsulated ratio were 98.2%、95.8% and 94.7% at the concentration of wall material 0.5%、1.0% and 1.5% respectively. The average particle size were 225±24μm、131±20μm and 11±3μm at the stirring speed 400rpm、800rpm、1500rpm respectively. The effect of sustained release was increased at 80℃ of pretreated temperature.
