Feed conversion ratio and growth of cultured animals are important in aquaculture. This study is intended to report on the utilizationof bile acid to accelerate the absorption of fatty acid, so that it mayreplace carbohydrate and to understand its efficiency when it is addedto eel diet. The experiment was conducted for a period of 69 days duringthe summer and autumn of 1988. Eels were divided into 2 groups, and fed treatments of Uppm (control), 150ppm, 250ppm, 350ppm bileacid, while water temperature and quality maintained. Best resultswere obtained at 35Uppm. Feed conversion values were 2.35 and 1.86,and hepasomatic ratio was 1.22. Crude fat content of the liver wasat 2.98 the lowest, with highest hemoglobin levels. Next best were250ppm, 150ppm and Uppm in descending order. The results point outthat the addition of bile acid to eels' diet has a wonderful effectand is economical in aquaculture.
