A directed condensation between para-aminophenol and paraformaldehyde would not produce thetitle compound, G'-amino-1, 3-benzodioxin. Therefore, it was converted from 6-nitro-l, 3benzodioxin by a reduction method. The lithium aluminum hydride reduction afforded two azocoupling products, and the palladium on charcoal and cyclohexene reduction yielded thecorresponding 6-amino product.
