This paper uses a survey of Mosaic Two: A Reading Skills Book administered to the Chinese Culture University students to examine the evaluation of the interest level of EFL reading textbooks. Both the objective factor (i.e., the textbook per se) and the subjective factor (i.e., users, including the teacher and students) of the EFL reading textbooks are taken into account in questionnaire design. The results of the eighteen survey questions yield three valuable findings concerning the interest level of EFL reading textbooks. Finally, from students' statements of the reasons for the most and least interesting chapters of the above textbook, we construct two checklists of thirtythree three questions as criteria for evaluating the interest level of the EFL reading textbooooks.
