As the tendency to study of space brought into focus recently, social space research is becoming a significant and essential issue. Since the method of Social Area Analysis is limited in presenting the sociospatial relations, and social atlas is an more effective way, this research attempts to use the method of social atlas to study social space with a case study in Dongguan city. The research groups the social factors into three categories in line with The Production of Space, which are population and society, public facilities, social organization and service agency, and maps in the gridding and dotting method based on an up-to-date data. After then, the study includes three parts: presents and understands the spatial features of various social factors by social atlas; explores the spatial relations of different populations and social facilities; analyzes the Dongguan social areas division on the basis of Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis. As a result, the maps shows a dispersed, imbalance and complex social space of Dongguan. In the end, this research declares the important value of social atlas in the age of Big Data, and indicates the necessity of continuing research.
